Escape to Dallas

August 2nd, 2002 ~ Day 1

After the wedding, Kristina and I drove off into the sunset in my truck.

Actually, we drove home in a hurry, because our plane to Dallas was scheduled to leave at 6:15, and it was already 4 o’clock. We still had to change clothes, throw the last few things in our suitcases, and hitch a ride with Sam to the airport. Fortunately, the Lubbock International Airport is quite small and all but empty most of the time. We ended up getting to the airport and checking in with plenty of time left over to split a personal pan pizza from the airport Pizza Hut. Had we known then what we know now, we would have bought about 40 of those things and crammed them in our carry-on bag to Mexico. Que serĂ¡, serĂ¡, right?

DSC01288.JPG Our plane departed on time and without incident. The flight was smooth and uneventful. We arrived in Dallas and followed the signs to the shuttle which took us straight to our hotel, the Hyatt Regency at DFW Airport. Check-in was hassle-free and we were in our room – 3312 – in no time. Ah, America. Why can’t you be every country in the world? We ordered another pizza, this one from Domino’s, and enjoyed our first supper as a married couple in four-star, high-rise style.
